Plantation Market Authority
How was this map developed?
The Red Hills Plantation & Albany Area Plantation Private Collection Maps are the result of Jon Kohler and Associates’ almost 27 years dedicated to sales, marketing, and conservation of these hunting plantations and unique high quality recreational land. Previously, we only used this map privately with our clients.
Why did you release these maps to the public?
Our Private Collection Map is a tool that we developed over the years to help our clients get to know the plantation belts while we got to know them. The property names are those generally known in the community. Recently, we donated the first map to ever leave our hands to Tall Timbers for a fundraising event, the Red Hills Plantation Belt Map. It generated a tremendous response. We realized how much this map means to the plantation community as a whole and how it can help others more easily understand this area’s significance. This is the first time a map of this type has ever been released of the Red Hills Region and the Albany Area. We hope that by releasing this map it can further its original mission.
Recently, you were named the “Plantation Broker” by Garden & Gun. What is your role as a broker?
The traditions, land, and lifestyle in the Red Hills are something that we cherish and defend. Our role is to ensure that good land stewardship is rewarded by having a host of buyers willing to appreciate the conservation ethic that has made this area so unique. We are the plantation “gatekeepers.
How are the proceeds from the map used?
Much of the proceeds of the sale of this map are donated to Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy and used for encouraging land stewardship throughout the area we call home.
About Jon Kohler & Associates
Jon Kohler & Associates is the leading authority on plantation and high quality land sales and marketing in the Southeast. Named the “Plantation Broker” by Garden & Gun and “The Plantation King” by Deep South, Jon Kohler & Associates has served as the guardian of the plantation market for more than 25 years. Today, they represent all seven plantation belts located across four southern states, have closed over 200,000 acres of the finest land in the South, and have the ear of most buyers and sellers in the marketplace. JonKohler.com is regarded as the #1 plantation website for market information. From being raised on a family conservation property, obtaining a BS in Real Estate then earning a Juris Doctorate to co-founding Landleader® (which is now the largest land marketing company in America with sales of over $2.6B in just the first two years as a start-up), Jon has dedicated his life and career to being a servant leader to the plantation and high quality land markets. Showing the unique intrinsic value of these properties and demonstrating the financial rewards of the conservation ethic is his trademark.
Celebrate the Red Hills and plantation lifestyle with this first ever print of the largest contiguous block of private landownership in America, all sharing a common conservation ethic, the Red Hills Plantation Belt. The Red Hills are home to some of the most diverse natural wild spaces left in the world and one of the best examples of private land stewardship. Of course, the quail hunting on these private estates is legendary. Featuring properties from the private collection of Jon Kohler, developed over a 27 year career specializing in plantation brokerage and conservation, this map shows the iconic plantations first developed here in 1888 to recently developed high quality recreational properties. This is the first map in the series covering all seven "Plantation Belts." This map is released to help show the importance of these private properties and celebrate the sporting lifestyle.
What is so unique about the Red Hills Region land owner?
Nowhere else do as many individual, but contiguous, landowners all similarly manage their properties for wildlife and recreation, all the while, sharing an unspoken code of land stewardship and conservation ethic.
The Jon Kohler & Associate’s Albany Area Plantation Private Collection Map is a very rare map. We hope you cherish it as we have. The Albany Area is often referred to as a "quail capital of the world" and boasts some of the South's most beautiful privately held properties. This map shows the iconic quail plantations first developed here in the early 1900's to recently developed high quality recreational properties.
