Matt Akin, JD
Originally from Southwest Florida, Matt Akin split most of his childhood between the Southwest Coast and Florida’s interior cattle ranches. Here, he and his two brothers were lucky to have a unique upbringing that always seemed to focus on hunting and fishing- interests that became obsessions as time passed.
Matt moved north to attend Florida State University, where he graduated with a Degree in Economics; he then moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he graduated from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, all the while spending his free time pursuing his love for ducks, wild turkeys, and trout with a fly rod.
After seven years in commercial real estate, Matt realized that the combination of his legal background, understanding of complex real estate transactions, experience in the woods, and interest in conservation could be combined to provide a valuable service. Matt is proud to serve Alabama, and the surrounding region.
Matt is an accomplished turkey hunter, having completed a public-land grand slam and guided many Osceola hunts; he is also an avid waterfowler, having hunted extensively throughout the Mississippi and Central flyways with his self-trained Labrador, Huck; he has fly-fished more than twenty states in both salt and fresh water. Matt is also a member of both the Florida Bar and the Alabama Bar. Matt now lives in Birmingham with his wife, Natalie, and their two children, Webb and Stewart.
