Bassetts Creek Farm is comprised of 1350+/- acres near the community of Hobson, in Washington County, AL. It’s just over an hour from Mobile and is available for the first time in 40 years. The management of timber and wildlife were of utmost importance and the results are noticeable to even the untrained eye. The entire acreage was high-fenced in the early 90’s and was completely rebuilt in 2004. The deer hunting is nothing short of excellent! Superior class genetics have been added to the whitetail herd for years as well as year-round protein pellets. Mature bucks will reach the 140”-150” class range on this property. 24 years of high fence game management has allowed the owner to control the predators and create an environment where the deer, turkeys and small game could flourish. The turkey hunting here is also second to none and it’s not uncommon to hear 3-5 gobbling turkeys at daylight from anywhere on the property.

The timber value is substantial with an estimated timber value of approximately $1,100 per acre. Mature timber stands of this caliber are rare and it is a beautiful setting anywhere you go. It’s a mix of natural pine and hardwood timber and has been managed with fire for years. The topography is rolling throughout most of the property and drops down into the basin of Bassetts Creek along the west side of the property. Bassets Creek is a beautiful navigable creek that flows through the property for over 3 miles. The fishing is excellent for bass and bream, and any local who has fished it will attest to that.

The 36-acre lake was built in the early 1980’s and stocked with bass and bream. Like everything else, the lake has been intensively managed and the fishing is excellent. One side of the lake is open water and the other side is a beautiful stand of flooded cypress trees and has tremendous potential for being an exceptional duck pond.

A quaint rustic cabin built mostly from timber harvested from the property sits on a small peninsula with 270-degree views of the lake. The woodwork is beautiful with wide-plank heart pine floors, cypress exterior, mahogany doors and windows, stamped brass ceiling, wood burning fireplace, and large wrap around porches. A second camp original to the property was renovated with modern appliances and has all the comforts of home, including city water. Several outbuildings surround the camp house for equipment storage as well as a custom concrete bulk fertilizer building. It is your quintessential hunting camp move in ready!

Overlooking Bassetts Creek and surrounded by mature hardwood timber is a magnificent home site with power and city water already there. Near the homesite is a custom cypress deer cleaning shed equipped with a walk-in cooler, stainless steel sink and an electric winch deer hoist. Other improvements include a 6-acre controlled duck impoundment that could be cleared, planted, and flooded for ducks or left as is and flooded for ducks. There are 12 green fields and most are large in size, enclosed shooting houses, excellent interior roads, custom heavy-duty steel bridge across Bassetts Creek, and much more.

Four decades of good land stewardship and game management is a rare commodity and its available for the first time in 40 years. For an exclusive look, contact me today.
