This 2,626 +/- acres of rolling hills and vast wildlife is a true masterpiece, offering world-class quail hunting, trophy whitetail deer, abundant turkey, fishing, miles of clear flowing creeks. The 1,500 acres of managed wild quail habitat is now regarded as one of the “Top 5” if not “Top 3” wild quail populations in all of Alabama. The rolling “red hills” and fertile soils are reminiscent of the habitat seen in the Thomasville-Tallahassee Region yet its located just 35 miles from Birmingham. Triple Creek East is a true testament to the allure of a sporting plantation with the combination of the amenities found in one of the South’s greatest cities.
“This is a great example of a year-round property with the benefits of one of America’s greatest cities. There is something here for everyone.” - Jon Kohler
Triple Creek East is the Eastern portion of the famed 3,536-acre Triple Creek Plantation. The story of Triple Creek Plantation has been profound, but it wasn’t until 2017 that a new chapter began to unfold. Kevin Stump, a man with a dream set his sights on something extraordinary. He envisioned not only expanding the plantation, but reintroducing the bobwhite quail and curating a world-class wing-shooting property. With Kevin’s hard work and determination, his vision came to fruition. From the architecture of the land to the thoughtfully designed habitat, roads, and ponds. Every inch of Triple Creek was mapped out with the outdoor experience in mind, and more importantly, for sharing that experience with others.
“In our niche we have the benefit of representing some of America’s greatest leaders and businessmen. Its amazing to see them accomplish things when they put their mind to it, their energy and capital. The fact that one of the highest populations of bobwhite quail in all of Alabama are documented here when just a few years ago there wasn’t a wild quail in the entire county is a modern day success story that was previously unimaginable.” - Jon Kohler
The initial problem with the dream was that there wasn’t a wild bobwhite quail in the entire county. In 2019, Kevin took the first step towards that dream. Partnering with Tall Timbers and other experts, he embarked on one of the most ambitious quail translocation projects the South had ever seen. Wild quail were brought in from Georgia, and the work began. As of a recent count, the 1500 acres of wild bird habitat has an estimated .9 birds per acre which places it among the top wild bird properties in Alabama and one of the most respected in the South. This entire transformation has been well documented with extensive records on Spring and Fall quail counts, prescribed burns, herbicide treatments, and it even boasts a telemetry-based trapping system. There are 8 well developed, extremely well managed wild quail courses and 24 miles of feedline with feeding every other week. To say no expense was spared is an understatement. It is regarded as one of the most successful quail translocation projects in the South and is a testament on how following the science-based recommendations of Tall Timbers can take a property with zero quail and turn it into one of the top wing-shooting properties in America.
"Tall Timbers is a private non profit research station headquartered in Tallahassee FL best known for its work in prescribed fire and bobwhite quail. Founded in 1958, Tall Timber now has biologists stationed throughout the southeast, including one in Alabama. His name is Mark Sasser and he spearheaded the work done at Triple Creek. It was a pleasure to work with a landowner and manager who spared no expense and cut no corners following our recommendations. It took vision to see this property as a wild quail plantation from where it began. It also took a restocking of wild quail from south Georgia as there were Zero there when the project began in 2018. Tall Timbers conducted the original research on these translocations and has conducted over a dozen such successful projects over the years. This combination of a dedicated owner, competent manager, sound research based advice, and wild quail translocation has transformed Triple Creek from a raw piece of land to one of the premier hunting properties in Alabama. Our annual spring and fall census has documented populations approaching one bird/acre over the last couple of years ranking it now among the "top 5" wild bird properties in Alabama. A great success story considering the location and what they started with." - Clay Sisson, Director, Albany Quail Project, Tall Timbers
“I feel like one of Jesus’s disciples. If anyone shouldn’t be surprised here it's me. I’ve seen what Tall Timbers has done, preached it to others and even sold the 3,500-acre Magnolia Hall both before and after their translocation program. I even personally saw their quail program on Whitney Estate on Long Island, NY! What they have done here, and how they guided the landowner on exactly what to do to quickly catapult this property into of the top quail properties in Alabama is close to miraculous.” - Jon Kohler
Of course, trophy deer hunting and wild turkey here too is exceptional given the well managed and annually burned quail courses that border approximately 934 acres of mature “park like” hardwoods. The fertile soil, combined with massive ancient hardwood bottoms, creates a habitat that is second to none for both deer and turkey. The whitetail genetics here are very good. Aside from possibly adding a few more deer focused food plots to the 83 acres already dedicated to wildlife, everything is done, making this a turnkey hunting experience.
“This place is like owning your own National Park but much better managed. This really is a year round recreational destination.” - Jon Kohler
This isn’t just a hunting property; it’s a year-round sporting paradise where guests can enjoy riding ATVs in the summer, wing shooting in the fall, catching the late-season rut for whitetail deer, or fishing in intensively managed ponds. There’s always something for everyone.
The property’s landscape is a blend of rolling hills, ancient hardwoods, and fertile soil reminiscent of the Red Hills Plantation Belt. It offers 800-to-500-foot elevation changes and three main creek bottoms — Wolf Creek, Hearthstone Creek, and Turkey Branch — with 5 miles of main creeks and 5 miles of smaller streams. These clear-flowing waters, combined with the rolling topography, create a setting that’s nearly unimaginable.
"The clear flowing water here is unbelievable. In fact there are 10 miles of creeks and streams with numerous springs on the property. Two of the spring heads feed the fish ponds.” - Jon Kohler
The property also boasts a 2.5 acre intensively managed fishing pond and several natural oxbow duck ponds ideal for waterfowl hunting. These water features not only enhance the natural beauty of the property but also provide excellent habitats for wildlife.
The architecture of the home at Triple Creek East is literally world-class, designed by a renowned architect from Birmingham. The home is a spacious 3,200 square feet, featuring custom and antique elements like mantels and pine flooring. With 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a billiard room, and a screened-in porch, this residence offers both comfort and elegance. The replacement cost of the main house alone is approximately $2.3M.
“This is perhaps the perfect place to share God's great creation with friends and family.” - Jon Kohler
Triple Creek East is protected by a conservation easement that allows about everything one would like to do on a high quality recreational property and allows for the lodge 6 acre building envelope and additional barns, kennels etc to be built along with additional homes, barns etc on another 10 acre envelope. This easement ensures that the property will remain a sporting paradise and never be subdivided, securing its legacy for future generations. The conservation value of this property is truly unique, preserving its extraordinary habitat and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
“I sell a lot of conservation easement properties and my own place, Lick Skillet, has two different land trusts protecting it. It's commonplace now for a property that has this much capital investment placed into its habitat to see it stay in habitat and not developed. This is a very liberal easement of which its primary restriction is that this property will never be a subdivision.” - Jon Kohler
Conveniently located just a few minute drive from I-20 East, Triple Creek East offers easy access to the arts, fine dining, and shopping of Birmingham. The city’s commercial airport is only 40 minutes away, and a private jet airport is just 23 minutes away, making this an accessible yet secluded retreat.
“This property is unique to all other quail plantations in that its location also offers all of the benefits, restaurants, and entertainment of one of the South’s finest cities.” - Jon Kohler
Triple Creek East was originally part of the 3,650 +/- acre plantation, Triple Creek that can be divided into Triple Creek East and West, each carrying its own unique legacy. What separates Triple Creek East is the world-class wild quail hunting along with exceptional trophy whitetail deer. The West side too offers quail opportunities but not to the same extent. The current barn, guest lodges, kennel, shooting range are located on the West side.
"What Kevin Stump and his team of advisors have created here is truly exceptional. This is perhaps the perfect example of what can happen when great habitat is combined with capital, knowledge, and vision, and it's all executed perfectly." - Jon Kohler
This is a turnkey sporting property that was thoughtfully planned and is ready to step in and enjoy today. Triple Creek East is not just a property; it’s a legacy of unparalleled wildlife management, architectural excellence, and Southern hospitality — a place where dreams are made real.
The adjoining Triple Creek West 911 acres is also available for $4,309,620. Or Triple Creek Plantation in its entirety, 3,536 total acres is available for $15,250,000.
