Justice Place is a 158 +/- acre recreational “mini-plantation” with a southern style home bordering the famed Kolomoki State Park. The property boasts exceptional soils, beautiful rolling hills, and some of the best examples of upland pine/native grass savannah in SW Georgia. Game flow is almost unlimited as the entire northern boundary is the State Park. The house and landscaped grounds are very well done but finishes and appliances do need to be updated and remodeling would make this an irreplaceable property. This property is an ideal family property.
Justice Place's entire northern boundary borders the 1,293 +/- acre Kolomoki Mounds State Park which features the tallest Indian mound in the Southeast. This property is the site of a “Prehistoric City” for thousands of years. It is regarded as some of the most fertile soil in the southeast.
As a passionate quail hunter, the current landowner has strategically burned/thinned the pines into the quail habitat that it is today. There is a 12-run outdoor dog kennel, an outdoor flight pen, and an enclosed quail house for growing/raising released birds. There is also a large, enclosed barn adjacent to the dog kennels and a covered storage shed/equipment barn next to the quail pen.
The five-bedroom, four-bath main house is a two-story, red-brick southern style and is positioned down a beautiful pecan-lined entry drive. A beautiful two-story covered front porch, complete with stately white Georgian columns, make for a grand entrance. Built in 1978 at an impressive 4,500+ sq. ft., the home touts plenty of living space for the multi-generational family, or entertaining visiting friends and family.
The house and landscaped grounds are very well done but finishes and appliances do need to be updated. It was determined that the remodel would best be done by the new buyer thereby making it exactly what they want. Upon entry a formal dining and sitting room is on the left with the grand staircase and chandelier; the master suite, kitchen, and living room are all also located on the first floor. To the right of the kitchen, there is a large game room complete with wood ceiling beams, a stone fireplace, pool table, and wet bar, which is great for entertaining and post-hunt lounging. A small office is located just off the game room. Upstairs there are four additional bedrooms, a private bathroom, and a Jack & Jill style bathroom between two of the bedrooms. A quaint and peaceful outdoor veranda is surrounded by landscaped grounds.
Kolomoki Mounds State Park:
This historically significant park features the oldest and largest Woodland Indian site in the southeastern United States. Occupied by American Indians from 350 to 750 a.d., Kolomoki is known for its great temple mound, standing sentinel at 57 feet high, in addition to two smaller burial mounds and several other ceremonial mounds. Outside of historical significance, Kolomoki is a great place for family fun and outdoor recreation with two lakes for fishing and boating, multiple trails for nature hikes, a playground, camping spaces, pedal boats, miniature golf, and more.
